Rookie Lifeguard is aimed at children – though the skills learned through the course of the programme are just as valuable to people of all ages. The scheme begins with Stage 1 of the Bronze Award and progresses to Stage 3 of the Gold Award, starting off at an ability level suitable for brand-new swimmers and progressing to the level where our Rookie Lifeguards perform impressive lifesaving tows.
Our rookie lifeguard programme will progress to using rescue equipment like boards and rescue tubes in a safe environment. Water safety will be an essential part of the programme teaching awareness in and out of the water.
The programme will combine RLSS awards with Sub6 add ons that will be more beach and sea based work. The five days will have a pool based session with the rest running at Eaststrand Watersports centre Portrush. Full schedule on booking will be sent.
